70 houses were destroyed in 1 minute tornado in Muksudpur of Gopalganj.
The incident took place in Vasudebpur, Mahatali, Digarkandi and Tikardanga villages in Ujani Union of Muksudpur Upazila on Thursday (October 5) evening. Tornado uprooted buildings as well as trees. Power lines were cut. 15 people were injured in the tornado. They received first aid locally. However, there was no loss of life in this incident.
Muksudpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer SM Imam Razi Tulu visited the scene today Friday (06 October). He distributed 30 kg of rice among the affected and helpless families.
Manoj Biswas of Vasudevpur village said that a storm suddenly broke out on Thursday evening. This storm lasts only 50 seconds to 1 minute. 70 houses in 4 villages were destroyed by the storm. Desperate families have lost their homes. Humanitarian assistance has been extended to the families by the upazila administration.
Muksudpur Upazila Nirbahi officer SM Imam Razi Tulu said that 70 houses of 40 families in 4 villages including Basudebpur were destroyed in the tornado. Houses were destroyed by heavy rains and storms. We have started damage assessment. 30 kg of rice has been distributed to the affected poor and helpless families.
Ujani UP Chairman Shyamal Kanti Bose said that 70 houses of 40 families in 4 villages were destroyed in a 1-minute tornado around 6:30 pm on Thursday. At this time the trees fell. Power lines are down due to broken power poles. 15 people were injured in the tornado. They received first aid locally. However, the UP chairman said that there was no loss of life. He also said that the affected families are being listed.
